Raquel specializes in teaching voice, acting and performance techniques. She studied at the Boston Conservatory of Music, and has worked as a musical theatre director at numerous theater camps. Raquel teaches piano and voice lessons, and loves coaching students of all ages who share her passion for music.
She is proud that she has students that have won the Spotlight Award, 1st place at DTASC, and have been accepted into some of the best theater schools in the country. Raquel is currently teaching "Acting the Song" at schools such as Harvard-Westlake, and Kids On Stage.
In addition to teaching, Raquel has performed in theaters all across the country. She wrote, directed and starred in a one-woman show at the famous Upstairs at Vitello’s and appears in numerous commercials and on TV (Glee fans may recognize Raquel in the role of the Opera Girl.) She starred as Tracy in Hairspray, sang the National Anthem at Staples Center and Fenway Park, and performed at Symphony Hall and Royce Hall for a PBS special.
Laura was classically trained in piano and studied with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music for 14 years before completing a vocal performance diploma and then a Music Business Degree at the Academy of Contemporary Music in London.
Laura then moved to Los Angeles and since has been hired as a professional vocalist, accompanist and pianist performing in large corporate shows at venues like the Bellagio, Caesar's Palace , MGM Grand as well as headlining at Universal Studios for New Years Eve and 4th July.
Laura was hired by Activision as their lead vocalist to help promote their video game 'The Voice' throughout the shows airing and was featured on Snapchat͛'s Under the Ghost series as the new up and coming artist.
She is founder and arranger of the Jingle Belles, a 4 piece , all-ladies acapella group in Santa Monica with their most recent single 'Winter Song' on iTunes as well as Director of the Laura Jean Music Academy in Santa Monica, a boutique music academy catering to 45 weekly private students specializing in piano and voice performance.
Laura is full of energy and has an enormous passion for teaching. She is proud to have students who have been shortlisted on Broadway for leading roles as well as being accepted into prestigious music schools. She was hired as the head Performance Coach for Rocknaccapella, a professional kids acapella group who performed at the Staples Center, the Pantages and were booked for hundreds of public shows up and down southern California before the company moved to St Louis. She loves teaching as much as she loves to perform. She knows how to make music fun, sets goals and knows how to motivate. Music becomes a part of life with Laura and with a bubbly personality she is a fantastic mentor and teacher for any aspiring performer.
